At
last, we are on our way to Mt. Eden. Has been viewing it from far for the past
few days, finally this morning, Amy and Stephen walked us to the entrance and
guided us the path up. Is very nice of the kids. Walking together with them is
filled with laughter.
The
entrance that we took was between 2 houses. It started off with some steps in mud. Glad that it is not that muddy
and no rain during that time, else there goes your shoe. If you have been a
frequent hiker or can I say walker of Gasing Hill, this is no problem to you.
At the start of the walk, there is a swing made up from unwanted tyre. Stephen
and Chia Yeen have a good time with it. As for me hehe no thanks leg is not
long enough to stop it though.
It
will takes you approximately 10 minutes off the mud road and then leading you
to the tar road.
- the first 2 minutes you see this
- this is after 8-9 minutes
- off you go to the tar road
Is about an hour to move up slowly enjoying the scenic view of
Auckland City. This, of course, include some time to take photos in between. By
walking halfway, be prepared to view the landscape of the City.
- houses everywhere
- zoom from the photo above, houses with their own designs
- this is just the halfway view
- finally arrived... haha... cool isn't it
Once you
arrived at the top, the whole City is just beneath your leg. One side on the
City and the other on the housing area.
- view of the houses
- One Tree Hill is at the other end (the tallest in the middle)
- the road down
There抯
a crater in the middle. Although it was mentioned not to go down the crader,
yet there are still people going down beneath and take photos. Is steep and
real steep.
- the crater
- No Entry
- the top indicator, actually I don't know what is that.
- a closer view
There is a direction table on the top of the mount, next to the indicator. This direction table found here replaces the Royal Doulton Porcelain table presented by the Late Sir Ernest Davis in 1928. The original table was damaged in 1983. It has then been restored to its original condition and is on display at the Mount Eden War Memorial Hall. Hmm... maybe I shall pay the table a visit.
- The Direction Table, ahmmm... which direction you looking?
- is like a big fixed compass
- the top view. looks like I am standing high right? hehe... just the lens... does the trick
- Next destination --> Hong Kong
I
spent a few hours here just to take photos. And then walked back to the house.
We took a longer road this time. Though it seems lost however I consider it as
discovery. Because I always believed no matter where you ended at, there is
still path for you to walk back. Is just matter of time.
